Mackenzie & Lindsay’s Vibrant Country Wedding
When a couple's vision is filled with joy, vibrant colour, and playful, personal touches, we know we’re about to create something truly magical. Mackenzie and Lindsay’s wedding was a masterclass in modern whimsy, set against the rustic backdrop of a family farm. They wanted a day that felt both relaxed and breathtakingly beautiful, blending the comfort of home with a riot of bloom-heavy florals and statement designs. It was a celebration of love that was as effervescent and fun as the couple themselves.
From our first design meeting, we were captivated by their love for warm, summery tones and unique shapes. The plan was to transform a familiar farm setting into a whimsical wonderland, using statement stationery, rich textures, and an abundance of colourful flowers. The result was a vibrant country wedding that was a feast for the senses, filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable details.
The Ceremony in a Wheat Field
The magic began as guests arrived at the family farm. They were greeted with a charming welcome sign, accented with a burst of florals, and invited to grab an ice-cold water or beer before making their way across the road to a serene wheat field. This was the setting for the ceremony, a space we transformed into a romantic floral sanctuary.
Instead of a traditional arch, the couple exchanged vows inside a magnificent, crescent-shaped floral meadow. This incredible installation was comprised of six separate, lush arrangements that curved around them, creating an immersive and intimate focal point. It was designed to look as though a wild, romantic garden had sprung up right in the middle of the field, surrounding Mackenzie and Lindsay with layers of colourful blooms and mixed greenery. As the DJ played, Mackenzie made her way down the aisle to Lindsay, a breathtaking moment set against a backdrop of golden wheat and endless sky.
Cocktails and Conversation
Following the heartfelt ceremony, the celebration moved back across the road to a stylish cocktail area set up in front of the farm's shop. As guests mingled, our team worked quickly behind the scenes, repurposing every single piece of ceremony décor to give it a second life at the reception. This is one of our favourite ways to maximize a floral budget and create a cohesive design story throughout the day.
The crescent meadow florals were carefully moved, with the largest pieces destined for the head table and others finding new homes around the reception space. The seating chart featured a playful wave pattern seating sign stand, positioned near the reception entrance by a vintage tractor packed with flowers. We placed two of the ground-based floral arrangements at the base of the chart, creating a stunning entrance moment.
Guests enjoyed canned alcoholic beverages and pre mixed beverages served from a mobile bar, while two chic lounge areas invited them to relax and connect. These lounges, featuring plush velvet textures for some alternative seating were set beneath a canopy of Edison lights. Each coffee table was styled with delicate, ikebana-inspired mini arrangements, continuing the floral story in a more intimate way.
A Transformed Reception Space
The true transformation took place inside the spacious farm shop. What was once a utilitarian space became a whimsical, light-filled reception hall. Our team worked alongside the DJ and florist to create an atmosphere that was both beautiful and incredibly fun, using pops of colour, layered textures, and an abundance of ambient lighting.
The couple and their wedding party were seated at a long head table, backed by a striking white voile backdrop. In front of the table, we placed the largest floral arrangements from the ceremony meadow, creating a lush, continuous garden at their feet. The bridesmaids' bouquets were placed along the table, adding even more floral density.
To create an even more dramatic focal point, we designed a whimsical suspended floral installation to hang above the couple. This ten-foot-wide bar featured trailing greenery and individual blooms delicately hung from a fishing line, creating the illusion of flowers floating in mid-air. It framed Mackenzie and Lindsay perfectly, adding a touch of ethereal magic to the head table design.
The indoor reception was where the usual shop tool bench transformed into a bar area to serve the signature cocktails in specialty glassware, beer and mixed drinks. We placed the bouquet there for the floral and some bud vases along with a neon sign.
A Tale of Two Tables
We carried the dynamic, playful design through to the guest tables. To create visual interest, we used a mix of round and square tables, each with its own distinct but complementary style.
● Round Tables: These tables featured full, bloom-heavy centrepieces in low, white ceramic bowls, which were purchased for the couple to send home with guests as a lovely keepsake. The arrangements were designed with dynamic layers and depth, set upon a vibrant patterned linen that brought a burst of colour and energy to the room.
● Square Tables: For the square tables, we created a more modern look. A custom wave-patterned table runner stretched across the linen, topped with clusters of clear glass bud vases. Each cluster held five assorted vases filled with a variety of single blooms and filler flowers, creating a delicate, deconstructed floral look.
Dancing Under the Stars (and Lights!)
The atmosphere was electric. The couple had purchased 18 strands of Edison bulbs, which we dropped down from the thirty foot ceiling to create a breathtaking canopy of light over the entire space. This, combined with additional lighting, cast a warm, celebratory glow that made the room feel intimate and magical.
After a delicious dinner and dessert guests enjoyed mini cupcakes as the couple cut a beautiful cutting cake topped with fresh raspberries. The couple took to the black and white checkered dance floor for their first dance, kicking off a party that lasted late into the night. As the evening went on, guests were treated to a late-night food truck and could gather around a bonfire, adding to the relaxed, country-chic vibe.
Mackenzie and Lindsay’s wedding was a perfect reflection of their joyful spirits. It was a day filled with bold design choices, personal details, and an overwhelming sense of love and celebration. We were so honoured to bring their vibrant, whimsical vision to life.
