Leah & Jared’s Timeless and Vibrant Wedding

A winter wedding holds a special kind of magic. There’s an inherent romance in the cozy atmosphere, the rich textures, and the warm glow of candlelight against a snowy landscape. For Leah and Jared, their winter wedding was all of this and more—a celebration that was timeless, vibrant, and incredibly chic. Their vision was to wrap their guests in warmth and elegance, using a sophisticated palette of hunter green, black, and white, all brought to life with an abundance of candlelight.

Held at the beautiful Fairmont Winnipeg, this was a day that perfectly balanced classic style with modern details. From the sentimental bouquet to the velvet-draped chuppah, every element was chosen with intention and love. We are so excited to share the details of this stunning winter wedding, with every beautiful moment captured by the talented team at Rhyme and Rhythm. Join us as we step into Leah and Jared’s unforgettable day.

The Vision: A Chic Winter Celebration

Leah and Jared’s aesthetic was a masterclass in focused elegance. They chose a solid hunter green, black, and white palette, a combination that is both timeless and strikingly modern. The deep green provided a sense of richness and warmth, while the black and white elements added a crisp, graphic contrast. The entire design was built around the concept of creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere, primarily through the extensive use of candlelight, which made the rich velvet textures and deep colours glow. We worked with Mia from Twofold Paper to create a custom paper suite, playing with shapes and a bold graphic font across all print pieces.

One of the most touching details was Leah’s bouquet. In a beautiful nod to her family's history, she chose a medium-sized bouquet of white orchids and delicate ferns, designed to mirror the one her own mother carried on her wedding day. It was a sentimental, personal choice that perfectly embodied the timeless spirit of the day.

The Ceremony: A Velvet-Draped Vow Exchange

The ceremony was a vision of modern romance. A striking chuppah, covered in luxurious hunter green velvet, served as the focal point. The structure was adorned with clusters of white flowers and lush greenery, while acrylic pedestals holding pillar candles lined the front and back, casting a soft, romantic light. It was a perfect blend of contemporary design and heartfelt tradition.

To create an intimate ceremony space within the grand ballroom, a soft white voile drape was used to divide the room, concealing the reception setup and adding to the sense of anticipation. As guests entered and took their seats in the black chiavari chairs, the atmosphere was one of quiet elegance and warmth, setting the stage for the beautiful vows to come.

The Reception: A Candlelit Dream

Following the ceremony, the white drape was pulled back to reveal a breathtaking reception space. The design was all about creating visual interest through shapes, lines, and an abundance of candlelight. The couple and their families were seated at a long head table set on risers, perfectly positioned in front of the velvet chuppah, which now served as a stunning backdrop. The table was styled with repurposed bouquets and a sea of candles in glass cylinders, while a clean white drape covered the crossbar behind the couple, ensuring a polished look.

The guest tables continued the theme of moody elegance.

  • Round Tables: Seating eight to ten guests, these tables were dressed in rich hunter green velvet linens. The centrepieces were low floral arrangements of greenery, white roses, and hydrangeas in matte black vases, surrounded by a trio of pleated votive candles. Black napkins were artfully folded to tuck the cutlery, completing the sophisticated look.

  • Long Tables: For the larger long tables, we created a dramatic runner of low and medium pillar candles, interspersed with clear and smoke-pleated votives. The effect was a river of light running down the centre of the hunter green velvet, creating an incredibly warm and inviting ambiance.

The black chiavari chairs from the ceremony were repurposed for the reception, creating a seamless and cohesive design throughout the entire space.

Sweets, Sounds, and Celebration

As the evening progressed, the celebration continued with thoughtful details designed to delight the guests. For dessert, a beautiful sweets table was arranged with a variety of mini treats from Sugar and Salt and Lilac Bakery. The desserts were placed on assorted platters and acrylic risers to create height and visual interest, with repurposed pillar candles adding to the warm glow. For a personal touch, the couple had a heart-shaped cutting cake for their official cake-cutting photo op.

A stage was rented for the Lonely Hearts Band, who flew in all the way from Toronto and kept the energy high all night long. The hotel's beautiful oak dance floor became the heart of the party, with up lighting around the perimeter of the room adding to the vibrant atmosphere. To provide a fun keepsake of the evening, a black and white photo booth was set up for guests and the couple to enjoy, capturing candid moments of joy and laughter.

Leah and Jared’s wedding was a beautiful reminder that a focused vision and a commitment to personal details can create a truly unforgettable day. Their choice of a rich, elegant palette, brought to life by the magic of candlelight, resulted in a celebration that was both timeless and vibrantly alive. It was an absolute honour to be part of their day, and we wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
